An appliance repair man who unwittingly became an entrepreneur, Allan Hirsch and his wife Margaret started their family run appliance business in a tiny showroom in Umhlanga Rocks Drive, Durban, in 1979 with just R900 that they had saved.

Today Hirsch’s has grown into a chain of mega appliance and home furnishing stores in KZN, Cape Town and Gauteng.

Stock controller

Main duties:

  • Receiving stock at the warehouse
  • Capturing on PC
  • Dispatching of goods to the branches
  • Daily stock counts and stock preparation
  • Returns to suppliers
  • General maintenance of warehouse

Administration jobs

Main duties:

  • Ensuring all ad hoc administration duties are completed
  • Assisting with solving customer queries and complaints
  • Checking the full function of vouchers and loyalty cards
  • Scanning of blue copies, extended warranties, job cards
  • Cleaning up of the cash register
  • Ensuring that all cash payments are securely dropped
